Governance Awards

In recognition of our sustainability efforts, Firmenich has received many awards over the years. Here is a selection of the most recent.

Firmenich was voted Best Private Company at Ethical Corporation’s 2011 Responsible Business Awards ceremony. Our entry was selected from among 200 companies from 30 countries, and the judging panel was impressed by “the breadth and depth of Firmenich’s approach and by its transparency.”

In October 2012, Firmenich was the proud recipient of the international Robert W. Campbell Award, the highest and most prestigious safety award any organization can achieve globally. The Award recognizes organizations that achieve excellence through the integration of health, safety and environmental (HS&E) management in business operations. Applications are reviewed by a panel of renowned experts and leaders in the business, education, safety, health and environmental fields. In February 2013, during the World Corporate Social Responsibility Congress in Mumbai, India, Firmenich was selected from more than 2,500 applicants worldwide and received the Sustainability Leadership Award with the Naandi Foundation in the category of Best Project Collaboration for our Shared Senses project in India.

Firmenich won the 2013 British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce Corporate Social Responsibility Award for its contribution to business in the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The judges highlighted Firmenich’s innovative work on products of natural origin and the company’s business model, which consistently focuses on social issues and increasingly involves alternative energy.

In 2014, in Switzerland, Firmenich was named Best Improver for increasing our CDP climate disclosure score by 23 points from 2013 to 2014.

In Indonesia, in 2015, our manufacturing site was recognized as the Best in Class in environmental management and reporting initiatives by the local government.

In 2015, in London, UK, Dr. Bérangère Magarinos-Ruchat, Vice President Sustainability Partnerships at Firmenich, received the Ethical Corporation’s “Head of Sustainability of the Year” award at its annual Responsible Business Awards ceremony.

In 2015, in Switzerland, Firmenich was named “Best Supply Chain Responder” by CDP, taking the number one position in its home country, out of a total of 20 Swiss companies.
In the U.S., our Port Newark facility received seven different awards from the state of New Jersey in recognition of its outstanding performance in Health and Safety, including the highest distinction, the Governor’s Continued Excellence Award in 2014.

In 2013, Firmenich received the City of Anaheim Green Business of the Year Award; Million Work Hours Award (for one million hours without a lost-time injury) and Exceptional Safety Performance Award (celebrating above-average performance) in Anaheim, California, U.S.

Firmenich was awarded the New Jersey Business Industry Association (NJBIA) 2013 Award for Excellence in Environmental Quality, highlighting Firmenich’s work on renewable energy and carbon reduction in Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.

Firmenich was given the 2013 OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Safety Award recognizing successful job-related injury and illness prevention in New Ulm, Minnesota, U.S.

Firmenich was honored by the Commissioner’s Continued Excellence Award for accumulating consecutive hours of work without a lost-time injury from January 18, 2006, until December 31, 2013 in Port Newark, New Jersey, U.S.
