Firmenich Elects Two New Board Members

Geneva, May 22, 2008 – Firmenich International SA is pleased to announce the election of Ms. Barbara Kux and Mr. Olivier Bazil to its Board of Directors at a Shareholders Meeting held in Geneva on May 21, 2008.



“The election of Ms. Kux and Mr. Bazil continues our strategy of ensuring a broad diversity of knowledge on our Board, together with a mix of Firmenich family and outside members”, said Jean-Marc Bruel, Chairman of the Board. “They will contribute in particular to a comprehensive experience in supply chain management, corporate finance and business development.”



Barbara Kux has a broad international experience in general management, supply chain management, business development and marketing. She is currently a Member of the Group Management Committee at Royal Philips Electronics in the Netherlands. After working in marketing with a Nestlé Joint Venture in Germany and as a management consultant with McKinsey, she led the Central and Eastern Europe operations for ABB and then Nestlé. In 1999, she became Executive Director at Ford Europe, running their 19 European businesses. Ms. Kux is a member of the Board of Directors of ZF Friedrichshafen AG (leading automotive supplier) and INSEAD.  She has been on Fortune Magazine's global list of the “50 Most Powerful Women” since 2000, and has been elected a “Global Leader of Tomorrow” by the World Economic Forum. Ms. Kux is 53, a Swiss national and holds an MBA from INSEAD.



Olivier Bazil has spent his career with the French Group Legrand, world leader in low voltage electric products and systems. He began in the finance department and moved up the ranks to become Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. He notably held the positions of Finance Director and Deputy Director General. Mr. Bazil is a member of Legrand’s Executive Committee and a member of the company’s Board. He also has a long experience running a family wine business in Bordeaux, France. He brings to Firmenich experience in strategy development and corporate finance, particularly having participated in the rapid international expansion of Legrand over the past 30 years.
Mr. Bazil is a French national, 61 years old and a Harvard graduate.
