OF SUSTAINABILITY LEADERSHIP IN OUR INDUSTRY

 2012

Firmenich becomes the first in the industry to sign the CEO Statement of Support for the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles.

Firmenich develops an Ingredient Environmental Sustainability Index to order to better evaluate environmental impacts of products.


2011

To reinforce our sustainability governance we have welcomed two new members to our Sustainability Council: Naandi Foundation’s CEO Mr. Manoj Kumar and IBLF’s (International Business Leaders Forum) Director of Strategic Relations Ms. Olive Boles. Firmenich has also been recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative for it’s work to help Vetiver farmers in Haiti and by the Ethical Corporation as ‘Best Private Company’ during their 2011 award ceremony.

 

2010

 

Firmenich has fully embedded it's approach to Sustainability in our new corporate vision "Embrace 2015". In addition to our existing solar installations worldwide, we opened our latest solar facility in Princeton, NJ U.S.A, with over 3000 PV panels that we produce close to one megawatt of electricity.    

 

2009

 

Firmenich exceeds three of its five 2010 environmental goals. Overall, we have 14 ISO 9001 Quality certifications, 9 ISO 14001 Environmental certifications, 10 OHSAS 18001 Safety certifications and 16 Food Safety Standard certifications.

 

2008

 

Firmenich becomes the first in the industry to sign the UN’s Global Compact, committing us to perform against ten principles upholding social, environmental and anti-corruption.

 

Firmenich commits to finding solutions to the impending global crisis over the availability of clean water by signing the CEO Water Mandate.

 

Firmenich establishes the Firmenich Sustainability Advisory Board, comprised of 5 independent experts.

 

2007

 

Invited to become a member of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Business Alliance, to help promote market-based solutions to malnutrition.

 

Launched a sustainable vanilla sourcing program in Uganda, embracing business, social and environmental objectives and improving the lives of thousands of Ugandan vanilla farmers.

 

2006

 

Firmenich is first in the industry to launch an independently-verified Sustainability Report, certified by international verification Group, SGS.

 

Overall, we have 11 ISO 9001 Quality certifications and 2 ISO 14001 Environmental certifications.

 

2005

 

Firmenich sets baseline data and 2010 goals in five key environmental areas, reinforcing its long-time commitment to sustainable business practice, and launches a global annual Community Day to support local communities around the world.

 

1992

 

Firmenich signs the Swiss Society of Chemical Industries’ Charter for Responsible Care.

 

1991

 

Firmenich signs the International Chamber of Commerce Business Charter for Sustainable Development.
