Typical and authentic profile of Ceylan Tea
Native to China, Tea has become associated with many Asian cultures.
It grows in hot and humid regions, and today it is widely cultivated in Sri Lanka (Ceylon), China and India. Black Tea is obtained by processing withered Tea leaves.
Tea leaves are vigorously rolled and then broken leaves are fermented, oxidized and dried before processed.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has a long tradition of producing the world’s finest teas, including the much-loved Orange Pekoe. dsm-firmenich’s local suppliers work with small cooperatives or independent farmers to source the best-quality leaves.
Sri Lanka’s tea fields are located in the mountainous areas of Northern and Central Sri Lanka. The leaves are picked by hand every morning throughout the year, before the sun is vertical.
The tea leaves are sorted and dried by the farmers and cooperatives.
