Sometimes called “the real Jasmine” and considered as the genuine Jasmine flower in a large number of Asian countries, Jasminum sambac is rich in benzyl alcohol, linalol, cis-3-hexenyl benzoate, and methyl anthranylate.
In India the majority of flowers is used for religious & decorative ornaments, while in China, it is mainly dedicated to tea: only 1% of the harvest is used for the Fragrance industry.
Jasmine Sambac comes from Hengxian area in Guangxi Province. Firmenich is mainly buying Chinese Sambac concrete and absolute from this area. During the harvest season, the flowers are hand-picked each morning as buds and sold the same day in market flowers or directly brought to the factories for extraction. Hengxian has a key flower market acting as an exchange place for Jasmine Sambac.
