FIRMENICH RECOGNIZED AS LEADING SUPPLIER FOR CORPORATE ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Firmenich is recognized for its excellence in greenhouse gas management, as it joins this year’s CDP Supplier Climate Performance Leadership Index, featuring 121 of the world’s top performing companies leading the way in climate change resiliency.

Geneva, Switzerland, January 27, 2015 - Firmenich confirms its leadership in sustainability and environmental management as it joins this year’s CDP Supplier Climate Performance Leadership Index (SCPLI).

With a Climate Performance Score, at the highest level of Band A and a Disclosure Score at 99/100, Firmenich ranks among the top 121 global organizations represented in the CDP SCPLI, selected from 3,396 contributing companies. The Fragrance and Flavor House was acknowledged for its commitment to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction as well as its transparent communication on its strategy, environmental goals and performance in mitigating climate change.

Gilbert Ghostine, Chief Executive Officer, Firmenich says: “I am very proud that Firmenich is leading the way in climate change mitigation. Joining the world’s top 121 suppliers, selected by the CDP in this year’s SCPLI, confirms our deep commitment to sustainability. Working closely with our customers and partners, we constantly aim to raise the bar in environmental management.”

David Shipman, Group Vice President, Corporate Compliance and Sustainability, Firmenich adds: “We are extremely honoured to be joining the CDP SCPLI. We look forward to building greater momentum with our customers and partners as we collectively address climate change”

Neil McFarlane, Senior VP Quality, Safety, Health & Environment adds: “CDP allows us to easily and transparently disclose our performance to key customers and stakeholders and compare results with similar environmentally-leading companies. The process of reporting helps companies exchange information on sustainability best practices which in turn helps us further improve our GHG emissions management.”

Paul Simpson, Chief Executive Officer of CDP, concludes: “Global greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise and we face steep financial risk if we do not mitigate them. The business case for action to mitigate climate change has never been stronger or more urgent. For this reason we congratulate those businesses that have achieved a CDP performance score of A. These companies are responding to market demand for environmental accountability and at the same time are making progress towards the realization of sustainable economies.”

The SCPLI, which is included within a new report reviewing the environmental sustainability of global supply chains, presents 121 suppliers identified as demonstrating a superior approach to climate change mitigation. It has been produced by CDP, the international NGO that drives sustainable economies, at the request of 66 multinational purchasers including L’Oreal, Unilever and Pepsico who work with CDP to better understand and manage the environmental impacts of their supply chains and have a procurement spend of US$1.3 trillion.
