PRESS RELEASE

Master Perfumer Annie Buzantian: Fragrance Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award 2015

New York, United States, June 22nd 2015 – Firmenich proudly announces that Master Perfumer Annie Buzantian has received the Fragrance Foundation Perfumer of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award 2015.

“I warmly thank the Board of the Fragrance Foundation for this very wonderful honor. I am genuinely touched by this recognition of my contribution to our special world of perfumery”, said Annie Buzantian. “I deeply believe that we perfumers leave a piece of ourselves in each of our creations. I also learned - long ago - that nothing great is achieved without others. I would like to thank some of the people who shaped me: my mentor, Perfumer Elie Roger; the wonderful customers with whom I have had the privilege of working and who constantly take me into new olfactive territories; my work family at Firmenich, where mutual respect is our DNA; and, last but not least, my family- who bring joy to my life every day”.

“All it takes is one look into Annie’s eyes and you can see she is a true virtuoso. A master and true innovator in her field, Annie thrives on breaking the rules, blurring the lines, and venturing into uncharted territory”, said Gilbert Ghostine. “It’s this spirit that led Annie to be the first woman Master Perfumer at Firmenich and now to be the first woman recognized by the Fragrance Foundation’s Perfumer of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Fascinated by perfumery’s limitless possibilities, Annie Buzantian joined Firmenich in 1972 as the Group’s first perfumer trainee, working alongside Master Perfumer Elie Roger. She released her first fragrance within a year and has never stopped since. In 1988, Annie Buzantian was named Master Perfumer at Firmenich, where she was the first woman to hold this title. Annie Buzantian has created more than 90 fragrances that have driven the fine fragrance market place while creating classics in the history of perfumery. In 2003, she was honored by her peers and the American Society of Perfumers with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
