Plainsboro, USA, October 25 2013 – Firmenich, the world’s largest privately-owned flavor and fragrance company, celebrated the inauguration of its new state-of-the-art encapsulation facility today at Karawang International Industrial City, near Jakarta, Indonesia, in the presence of CEO Patrick Firmenich and other senior Firmenich executives, top officials from the Indonesian Government, and the Swiss Ambassador. The facility is dedicated to the production of the company’s proprietary flavor encapsulation technology, Durarome®, and represents an initial investment of $30 million. This new facility supports Firmenich’s global strategy to invest as closely as possible to its customers in order to help them deliver the best product and increased value to their customers. "We are thrilled to be here in Indonesia today and moving forward into the future," said Mr. Firmenich. "This is evidence of the importance that the Firmenich Group gives to new emerging markets."

"Strengthening our operating capacity is a fundamental step to helping our customers generate value for their consumers, at the right cost and with the right level of service. We are committed to the food and beverage industry and the consumers in this significant region," added Aldo Uva, President of the company’s Flavors Division, also in attendance.

While Firmenich has been present in Indonesia since 1994, this is the first country outside of the Americas where the company has established a production site for Durarome®. With this site, the company aims to strengthen its market leadership in the flavor encapsulation technology. Firmenich will also launch a new variety of Durarome® to be produced at the new facility; a high load Durarome® aimed at applications requiring greater flavor intensity while still requiring a very cost effective flavoring system.
