Over the last 10 years, Firmenich has developed strong relationships with two cooperatives in Burgundy, the first region for quality and volume of blackcurrant buds. These cooperatives have been created by 70 local producers. Since the 2000’s, they turned their manual harvest into a mechanical one by adapting existing machines to their specific needs.
Firmenich is part of the long-term development of the cooperatives, for example through the establishment of 5 years purchase commitments.
Firmenich is the only actor in the industry to produce blackcurrant buds essential oil, a unique expertise developed for more than 40 years.
The local sourcing in France allows Firmenich to extract fresh products in its Tourrettes factory (South of France), enabling full control over traceability and quality.
