Lavender
Very floral, fresh, aromatic, herbaceous with sweet coumarin undertone.
Lavande Diva has a cleaner and more precise olfactory profile, especially without the mushroom secondary facet present in classical lavender/lavandin essential oil.
It's a well balanced Lavender with a clean and fresh aromatic notes completed with a beautiful warm ambery dry down.
This very floral lavender oil can be used in Fine or Consumer Fragrances with aromatic, fougere and floral accord.
Obtained by distillation of the biomass with water, or steam.
The essential oil is physically separated from the aqueous phase by decantation.
The Lavender Diva is a new variety recently selected as resistant to the « Deperishing disease » which is currently jeopardizing the large cultures of Lavandin and Lavender in France (a virus propagated by a small insect and which kills the plant in 2-3 years).
Extracted part: stem and flower.
The name "Diva" comes from the fact this variety is particularly floral, extremely resistant and very productive.
Today, France is one of the main producers of the fine fragrance quality, with an annual production of around 60 MT. Today, there are 28 species of Lavender; all grow in dry, sunny and rocky regions. The strands are more fragrant when they are harvested just before the flowers bloom.
Below 400 meters altitude, fine lavender cannot grow, only lavandin grows at sea level.
Lavandin is a hybrid of two lavender species giving much higher yields per hectare but with more camphoraceous notes explaining why it is more used in consumer goods/household segments.
Bulgaria annual production is around 250 MT and offers a less expensive quality, more dedicated to consumer goods application.

In Provence, dsm-firmenich supports its partner to develop a diversification program of Lavandin, Lavender and other herbs such as clary sage and coriander. dsm-firmenich is a member of the lavender endowment fund to help protect this iconic supply chain in Provence. In a field of fine lavender, there may be several different varying shades of blue. The association of aromatic products ensures a higher and more regular income for farmers. Lavender in France is picked mechanically "ensilage", in the same way as wheat, and distilled locally before being purchased by dsm-firmenich.
