The SFE process preserves all the facets and the natural profile identity to guarantee a high purity extract.
Our supplier purchases the oak that is left behind, which is most of the tree, from barrel production for the wine and spirits industry. It is the same excellent, Grade A quality wood but rendered useless for barrel making because of the barrel making process, due to the specific dimensional nature of a curved oak barrel stave. Barrel producers typically get between 2 and 3 barrels per ever 150-year-old oak tree. By repurposing the leftover chips, we can obtain apx. 30 barrels worth per tree using their offcut material, which is what otherwise would be considered "waste".
Supercritical CO2 Extraction is a technology in which carbon dioxide, put beyond its critical point (73 bars and 30°C), becomes a supercritical fluid with special properties.
The extraction carried out at a low temperature preserves the natural profile identity of the raw material.
Extracted part: oakwood chips.
This ingredient is both convenient for perfumery and flavor applications.
