Sri Lanka has a long tradition of producing the world’s finest teas, including the much-loved Orange Pekoe. Firmenich’s local suppliers work with small cooperatives or independent farmers to source the best-quality leaves.
Sri Lanka’s tea fields are located on in the mountainous areas of Northern and Central Sri Lanka. The leaves are picked by hand every morning throughout the year, before the sun is vertical.
The tea leaves are sorted and dried by the farmers and cooperatives, then sent to Firmenich for hydrodistillation.
