Upcycling description

For citrus fruits, both the juice and the peel serve as critical sources for natural extracts that deliver olfaction and taste experiences. Our citrus oils are the byproducts of the fresh juice industry, extracted from the zest of the fruits being processed using a cold pressed technique.

The resulting juice is filtered for the juice industry, and the oil, separated through centrifugation, is utilized by the fragrance & flavors industry.

Process

Distillation consists in separating the components or substances in a liquid mixture through selective boiling and condensation.

Sourcing

The grapefruit is a subtropical citrus tree known for its relatively large, sour to semisweet, somewhat bitter fruit. Grapefruit is usually consumed fresh, and the remaining material is then processed. During the processing the peel oil is recovered through a cold process system. In the Southern hemisphere the fruit is collected from May to August and in the Northern Hemisphere from October to January.

United States of America

In the USA, Grapefruit is mainly grown in Florida and Texas.
