Sourcing

dsm-firmenich sources Jasmine grandiflorum from India and Egypt, with a small scale sourcing in Grasse. Egypt is the world leader of Jasmine (grandiflorum), representing 60% of the market share, and India the remaining 40%. The worldwide production of Grandiflorum jasmine concrete is around 16 MT. The harvest process begins with hand-picking the flowers early in the morning before the sun drives away the aroma.

India

Since 2014, dsm-firmenich has established a Joint-Venture with Jasmine Concrete Export Private Limited (JCEPL), leader in Indian floral extracts. Jasmine Concrete EPL has developed with a dedicated local team an unique direct sourcing network with jasmine farmers in Tamil Nadu through long term contracts, advance payments, provision of seedlings and technical assistance. dsm-firmenich also works with them on sustainable agriculture improvements, especially in terms of the development of organic practices and ingenious irrigation.
Our JV with our partners in India allows us to offer an alternative to the Egyptian quality with slightly different olfactory facets, enabling us to offer a very wide range to perfumers.

Egypt

Our partners in Egypt relies mainly on their own plantation for flower production. All of their jasmine fields are located in the Nile delta where rich soils allow record flower yields. Our suppliers allow high quality control during the whole process, with good transparency and traceability. The majority of the Jasmine grandiflorum extracted by our suppliers comes from their own fields, if needed they purchase additional flowers from local farmers.
