Sourcing

Mint is a perennial plant crossing two main families, each recognizable by their specific aromas: spearmint is sweet with carvone while peppermint is fresh with mentol. Most of the spearmint production comes from China and India and is extracted as as a commodity oil. Smaller productions are done on the nothern hemisphere where the quality allows the leaves to be used directly.

United States of America

Most of Mint Spicata american production is centered in the region of Yakima, Washington state. American Mint Spicata earns a high reputation for its quality, usually considered far superior to Indian spearmint. Independent medium size farmers allow the leaves to dry for 2 days in the field and then proceed to distillation, normally twice per season.

India

The extraction of spearmint takes place in the region of Uttar Pradesh. Independent small farmers grow the plants and contribute to the quality of this mint oil. Following the manual step, the farmers dry the leaves which will then be steam distilled, once per season.
